The North Valley Belly Dance Competition is the longest-running California bellydance event north of Sacramento.  It attracts bellydancers and fans from Northern California communities and from all over the nation.

The North Valley Belly Dance Competition originated in the Chico, CA bellydance community, offering a night of quality family entertainment.

Years ago, the center of the Northstate bellydance community used to be in Redding. Roeena, a longtime Chico instructor and leader of Tri Star Bellydance Company, together with her fiance' Jim and friend/fellow dancer Katarina, began the competition in 1993.

The first competition was held at The Temple (a now-defunct Chico club) to a standing-room only crowd. Roeena and Jim decided to move it to The Brickworks in Chico because they realized that it was going to be BIG. From 1994 to 2002, The Brickworks hosted the event.

In 2000, Roeena passed the torch to friend and fellow instructor, Carolee Tamori. Carolee and husband David produced the 2000 competition, and are committed to growing and improving the North Valley Belly Dance Competition into a top-notch event which attracts both top local talent and dancers from all over the globe.

In 2003, the North Valley Belly Dance Competition moved to Feather Falls Casino in Oroville. As of 2004, the Competition's new home is The State Theater in Oroville. In 2007, The State Theater began extensive renovations, and the Competition was relocated to the Municipal Auditorium in Oroville.
